Salesforce Integration User License – All you need to know

Salesforce has recently launched a new user license type specially for integration purposes. It is called ‘Salesforce Integration’. Salesforce Integration User License was announced on March 7, 2023 as part of Salesforce Developer Conference, TrailblazerDX and has been available since march 14, 2023.

The Salesforce Integration user license makes the Salesforce API Only System Integrations profile and the Salesforce API Integration permission set license available for assignment. Here are some key features, Limitations, cost details of Salesforce Integration User License:

Features

Salesforce integration license has following features :

• It can be used for creating an integration user.
• It is for API only access to salesforce data and metadata.
• It restricts access to Salesforce UI and prevent UI login.
• It is limited to any system to system integration.
• It can help in sharing same integration user for multiple integrations which helps in limiting access to individual integration.
• It is helpful in better traceability of any transactions or activities performed by each integration point.
• It is cheaper license than salesforce full license or platform license.
• All Salesforce organizations with Enterprise, Unlimited, Performance edition and Developer orgs are allotted by default one or more Salesforce integration license.

Limitations

Since it is a relatively new features there are not many known limitations. here are few listed below :

• It can only be used for System to system integration only.
• It can’t be used for human users to access Salesforce data or features through any user interface.
• API access can’t be turned for this license user but other permissions and capabilities can be controlled at profile or permission set level.

Default Licenses and Cost

All Salesforce orgs with Enterprise, Unlimited, Performance edition get default 5 Salesforce Integration license. All Developer edition orgs get 1 Salesforce Integration license.
